The PRISM project aims to deliver security standards for media that can be intelligently indexed, stored and searched; and provide intelligent and efficient storing, processing and distribution for this content. The project uses grid technologies to create a flexible dynamic infrastructure. Grid technologies are the next generation of web technologies that enable cost-effective dynamic infrastructures to be created. NextGRID ![]() Grid computing is a new paradigm. It offers access to significant
computing and data resources on demand in the same way that the
electricity grid provides power. Grids are going to revolutionise
computing as profoundly as e-mail and the Web revolutionised
communications. Grids are now moving out of the laboratory, following
the route taken by the Internet, and are set to change the way business
is structured and how people work, learn and indeed live. with 21
European partners, NextGRID is part of a major initiative to ensure
that Europe is a world leader in this technology, central to the new
knowledge-based economy. Previous Projects | CRISP (Commercial R3 IEC Service Provision)CRISP brings together end-users from several industrial sectors, IT service providers, enterprise software and hardware vendors and key e-Science researchers to overcome current limitations in IEC (Grid) infrastructure. CRISP will enable the two key elements of successful IEC-enabled virtual organisations: dynamic collaboration to achieve shared business goals, and dynamic provision and exploitation of services in a shared infrastructure with decentralised, autonomic management and commercial-grade security. CoreGRIDCoreGrid is the European Research Network on Foundations, Software Infrastructures and Applications for large scale distributed, GRID and Peer-to-Peer Technologies. The CoreGRID Network of Excellence (NoE) aims at strengthening and advancing scientific and technological excellence in the area of Grid and Peer-to-Peer technologies. |
